ABC.Net needed to launch a new HR policy in where non-smokers would get 3 leaves extra annually as opposed to smokers. The rationale of this policy implementation was that regular smoke breaks and poor health of a smoker leads to reduced employee productivity as opposed to a non-smoker and hence the gratification to the non-smoker. This policy was a wellness initiative which in the long term hoped to encourage employees to quit smoking.

But wait, here’s the deal.
Your 2018 New Year’s quit smoking resolution need not go up in smoke. In fact, we, team human resources think that it's impossible to fail so long as all nicotine remains on the outside. Easier said than done? We agree!
This is why, in order to motivate you to kick the butt we are offering 3 extra leaves to anyone and everyone who does not smoke or promises to wean off the habit.
No replacement nicotine, no gradual dissuading schemes, no toying with e-cigs, no taking Chantix or Zyban, no hypnosis or acupuncture; just 3 extra paid days to relax and unwind.
We realize that there is no one way that works for everyone, but we are positive that this can be at least a good start. As our workplace evolves, the one thing we assure you is motivation aplenty.
